"You like movie villains, do you? Well, have you seen this one? How about a little fire Scarecrow?"
The Scarecrow is one of many villains that Harry Blackstone Copperfield Dresden, the only wizard in the Chicago phonebook, comes up against in his adventures as a private investigator in the Dresden Files series by Jim Butcher. It is a Fetch that served Queen Mab for a very long time...it's also known as the Eldest Fetch. It first shows up as a phobophage (a supernatural predator from the spirit world that feeds on fear) at a horror movie convention in the book "Proven Guilty"
The wood is 4" square and 1/4" thick walnut, cut by hand on a scroll saw. It's finished with 3 coats of a water-based polyurethane for water resistance, and backed with 1/8" thick cork painted to highlight the design - these deskorations can double as coasters! Walnut wood grain varies a lot from board to board, so every deskoration is unique.
